On 31st January 2025, MICCI President, Ms. Christina Tee, was honoured to be invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Malaysia for a meeting with H.E. Mr. Kudratov Laziz Shavkatovich, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
The discussion focused on enhancing trade and investment between Malaysia and Uzbekistan, particularly in food processing, manufacturing, and the digital economy. Uzbekistan, rich in natural resources like minerals, cotton, and fertile agricultural land, presents great opportunities for investment. The country’s growing food industry and Malaysia’s expertise in halal certification and supply chain management provide a strong foundation for collaboration.
Uzbekistan’s strategic location in Central Asia, coupled with government incentives for foreign investors, makes it an attractive market for businesses looking to expand in the region. The exchange also focused on strengthening policies to boost trade relations and open new avenues for growth. Both sides shared insights on business-friendly policies and explored ways to enhance trade relations, with the aim of opening doors for companies from both countries to expand and thrive.
MICCI looks forward to supporting members in seizing these emerging opportunities and fostering stronger global connections. This marks just the beginning of a promising journey, with exciting opportunities for Malaysia-Uzbekistan trade relations ahead.
