On 13th March, Penang Port Sdn Bhd hosted the 1st Joint Meeting of the MICCI Logistics & Infrastructure Council (L&I) and the Joint Action Security Council (JASCO). MICCI extends its heartfelt appreciation to Penang Port, under the capable leadership of Dato’ Sasedharan Vasudevan, CEO of Penang Port and Chairman of the L&I Committee for making this gathering possible.
The session marked an exciting chapter as the Council welcomed new committee members: Mr. Joel Solomon (DKSH), Mr. Chee Wern Wye (Flash Express Malaysia), Mr. Cheah Siong Hon (Crowe), and Mr. Kenneth Yeoh (Toll Integrated Logistics) who brought with them many years of knowledge and experience to share with all council members.
Key discussions focused on pressing logistics challenges, including the rollout of the Maritime Single Window, and explored meaningful partnerships, such as a proposed luncheon with key government ministries and potential collaboration with the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL).
The day continued with the inaugural JASCO session, co-led by Tuan Haji Mohd Razali Bin Abdul Aziz, Co-Chairman I, and Mr. Sangar Kandasamy, Co-Chairman II, reinforcing MICCI’s commitment to security and risk management. The session was further enriched by insights shared by Mr. Mohd Shafiq Muraly Abdullah, Chairman of the Penang Security Practitioners Organization (PENSEC).
This joint meeting not only fostered dialogue but also set the tone for greater synergy between logistics, infrastructure, and security stakeholders moving forward. The event concluded with a tour of Penang Port and a wonderful Iftar hosted by Penang Port.
