MICCI had the privilege of welcoming H.E. Tumur Amarsanaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to Thailand, on 7 th March 2025, for a courtesy visit aimed at enhancing economic collaboration between Malaysia and Mongolia. The meeting was led by Ms. Christina Tee, President of MICCI, together with Mr. Martin Ang, President of MCMTC, Mr. Lee Han Ling, Executive Director of MICCI and other representatives.
The discussion highlighted opportunities to strengthen economic ties, particularly through the proposed establishment of a Malaysia-Mongolia Business Council. This council would serve as a platform for fostering bilateral trade, investment, and collaboration between businesses from both countries. Another key point interest was Mongolia’s plan to establish a consulate office in Kuala Lumpur by the end of the year, with MICCI offering its support in facilitating this initiative. Both parties also discussed formalizing their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a structured framework for future engagements.
During the meeting, Ms. Christina Tee highlighted MICCI’s role as one of Malaysia’s leading business chambers, supporting international trade through key services such as certification issuance and APEC Card facilitation. With an extensive networks, particularly across Asia and the world, MICCI is well-positioned to assist Mongolian businesses seeking market expansion in the region.
Looking ahead, future collaboration opportunities were explored, including potential ministerial visits in July coinciding with ASEAN-related events. MICCI also proposed leveraging its network to host business events that introduce Mongolian tourism and investment opportunities to the Malaysian market.
The visit marks an important step in fostering stronger economic ties between Malaysia and Mongolia, paving the way for greater business engagement and future collaborations.
